1. What are cookies?

CareerMetrics uses a limited number of cookies, each serving a clear purpose:

Essential cookies

These cookies are required for the site to function. They cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

Analytics cookies

These cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They collect anonymised data — no personally identifiable information is captured. In the UK/EEA they are set only if you allow "store and/or access information on a device" in the consent dialog shown on your first visit (the same Google-certified dialog that covers advertising); decline and Google Analytics is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time via Privacy and cookie settings at the very bottom of every page.

Third-party cookies (payment)

When you proceed to checkout, Stripe may set cookies on its own domain (stripe.com) to process your payment securely and prevent fraud. These cookies are set by Stripe, not by CareerMetrics, and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy.

3. Local storage

In addition to cookies, we use your browser's localStorage to store preferences that remain entirely on your device. Unlike cookies, localStorage data is never automatically sent to our servers.

4. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)

Some pages (currently our blog articles) show ads served by Google AdSense, which keep CareerMetrics free to use. Google and its certified ad partners may set cookies (such as __gads, __gpi, IDE) to serve ads, measure them and prevent fraud, and — only with your consent — to personalise them.

Your choice. If you are in the UK or EEA, Google's own consent dialog (a Google-certified consent management platform using the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework) asks before any personalised ad is shown. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads. You can change your decision at any time via Privacy and cookie settings at the very bottom of every page, or opt out across the web at adssettings.google.com and youronlinechoices.com.

Ads currently appear only on blog articles.

5. Cookies we do NOT use

For clarity, CareerMetrics does not use:

• Retargeting or remarketing pixels of our own
• Social media tracking pixels (Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, etc.)
• Cross-site tracking cookies
• Fingerprinting or device identification technologies

6. How to manage cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

• See what cookies are stored and delete them individually
• Block third-party cookies
• Block cookies from specific sites
• Block all cookies
• Delete all cookies when you close your browser

Please note that blocking the session cookie will prevent you from logging in and using any authenticated features.

Opting out of Google Analytics

You can opt out of Google Analytics across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Alternatively, most ad blockers (uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger) will block GA4 automatically.

Clearing localStorage

To clear localStorage: open your browser's Developer Tools (F12), go to the Application (Chrome/Edge) or Storage (Firefox) tab, find Local Storage, select careermetrics.co.uk, and clear the entries.

7. Changes to this policy

If we introduce additional cookies or change how we use them, this page will be updated with an updated revision date. For significant changes (such as adding new categories of cookies — advertising cookies were added in August 2026), we will notify users prominently.
